Dear social media platforms, policymakers, investors, and tech leaders:

We are founders, healthcare professionals, charity leaders, educators, creators, campaigners - and people simply trying to talk about our bodies.

But we are being censored.

Across social media, content about women’s health - from menstruation and menopause to fertility, postpartum recovery, and sexual wellbeing - is being taken down, restricted, or labelled as inappropriate.

CensHERship's research shows 95% of respondents have experienced censorship and nearly 4 in 10 have experienced it 10+ times over the past 12 months.

Medically accurate, non-sexual posts are flagged as “adult content.” Ads for health innovations are rejected. Visibility of taboo-breaking information is throttled.

And when we ask why, we are left without answers.

This is not just an inconvenience. This is holding back innovation in women’s health, blocking public access to essential health information, and - we fear - it is costing lives.

Closing the women's health gap could unlock a $1 trillion annual boost to the global economy, according to McKinsey and the World Economic Forum. Yet the people building that future — especially female-led businesses and charities — are being stifled by systems that confuse healthcare with obscenity.

We call on those with power to act:

Social media platforms must stop treating women’s health content as inherently sexual or inappropriate. Moderation systems must be updated to reflect medical context, fairness, and gender equity.

Policymakers must help bring platforms to the table. And they must ensure digital regulation addresses gender bias and recognises the public health and economic cost of this issue.

Investors and industry leaders must back women’s health innovation and ensure the infrastructure exists for these businesses to scale without censorship.

We should not have to replace vagina with ‘V-word’ or talk about menopause as ‘the change’.

We will not avoid topics like libido, discharge, prolapse and periods - because we need to talk about real bodies, real experiences, and real health concerns.

We will not stop our work to advance healthcare for more than half of the world’s population.

This is your call to level the playing field for women’s health.
